Compromise & the Bible: The Big Bang

What is the Big Bang theory? It is the hypothesis accepted by many scientists as the way the universe came into existence, over billions of years. However, these scientists believe in the Big Bang because it provides a way to leave God out of the universe.

Problem 1: The Big Bang theory leaves out God.

In this article, I'll describe what's wrong with the Big Bang and why integrating it with Biblical doctrine is dangerous.

The Big Bang theory says that a tiny point of energy suddenly exploded and created space, matter, and all other energy in the process. However, the Big Bang only covers history from the explosion, the forming of galaxies, the forming of stars within those galaxies, and the formation of planets around some of the stars. The Theory of Evolution continues the Creator-less history, attributing life to a series of mutations, mistakes, and to a large helping of chance. However, neither of these theories have any scientific proof. In fact, neither are science; neither are even in the "jurisdiction" of science. [For more information on the lack of proof and the evidence against the Big Bang and Evolution, see www.answersingenesis.org]

Problem 2: The Big Bang cannot be supported by science.

Earth

Now, the core question for Christians is: Did God use the Big Bang to create the universe" The answer is no.

The Big Bang theory says that the universe as we know it came into existence over several billion years. However, the Bible says that God created it in 6 twenty-four hour days. "And the evening and the morning were the first day." Some people dispute the meaning of the word "day." The Hebrew word is yom, and although it can refer to any length of time, the most common usage is a day. Combined with the evening/morning statement, it is obvious that God created the universe in 6 literal days. Exodus 20:11 reinforces this fact.

Besides that, the timeline of the Big Bang contradicts Scripture. The Big Bang says that galaxies were formed first, followed by stars and finally planets. Earth was formed as a rocky desert. However, the Bible says that the Earth existed before the stars and was covered by water, not by rock.

Problem 3: The Big Bang directly contradicts Scripture.

But, why is this important? Does it matter how God created everything as long as one believes that He did?

It is important. If scientists can convince people that, possibly, God created the universe using the Big Bang, then what else of the Bible isn't true as literally written? Did Moses really cross the Red Sea on dry land? Was Jesus really born of a virgin? Did Jesus actually perform miracles? Did Jesus really rise again from the dead? Was Jesus God, just as He said He was? Compromise is dangerous, and should never be used with your faith. The results could be disastrous.
